This is one of my favourite US bands. They come from Minnesota and this 7" was released on Havoc Records (thanx Felix!!!). When I first heard it I went crazy. Unfortunately they didn't do anything else except an LP called "Invention, Extinction" for Profane Existence/Skuld Releases. I haven't heard it, but Vedran K. told me it wasn't as good as this is. I had to put up this 7" cos it brings back chaotic memories. I've actually been on this gig in Ilirska Bistrica in Slovenija (Slovenia) when this was recorded. I also got pretty pissed (cheap wine & beer mix), didn't get robbed or twatted though... But I know the guy who did punch Doom's singer. It was Hrvoje M. who later when I asked him why he did such a stupid thing told me that he thought he heard the singer from Doom say something like "Pick me in the head!" and he translated this in his drunk/dumb head that he should go on stage an punch him. Well, it was a good gig even with this stupid incident.

PEKINŠKA PATKA - Sve od Pekinške Patke

Since my last two posts were about bands from Novi Sad I thought I'd continue with that subject. Pekinška Patka (Beijing Duck) are one of the most famous Ex-Yu punk rock bands. I don't know anyone that I've met and who is from Ex-Yu that hasn't heard of this band. This is a "complete discography" type of release, on it you can find both of Pekinška Patka's albums and their 7" single. "Plitka poezija" LP and the "Bila je tako lijepa + Buba-rumba" 7" are punk rock and "Strah od monotonije" LP has a more post-punk/Joy Division style of sound.

VA - Novosadska punk verzija Vol. 2 [2006]

Last year I went to an Atheist Rap gig in SKUC-PAUK club in Zagreb. There I've bought a "Novosadska punk verzija 1978-2005" book written by Sava Savić & Igor Todorović and with it I got this CD. It's a compilation of bands from Novi Sad which covers the existence of punk in that city throughout the years. 2 MINUTA MRŽNJE

Legendary Oi! punk band from city of Novi Sad in Vojvodina, part of todays Srbija (Republic Of Serbia). They started playing back in 1984 and made two demos that I've put together here as one release. They played gigs in Novi Sad, Beograd (Belgrade) and Ljubljana, one gig was with famous B.G.K. from Netherlands (Holland). They're not active any more but they're still very popular, just one of the examples being a cover of their song "Terorizam protiv dosade" (Terrorism Against Boredom) by a band called Fakofbolan (F.O.B.) from Pula in Hrvatska (Croatia) on F.O.B.'s "Jedini dokaz" (The Only Proof) album released back in 1998. My personal favourites are songs "Sudije" (or "Judges" in English, with excellent chorus that goes: "Vi ste naše sudije, vi ste naši dželati... / You are our judges, you are our executioners..."), "Maska" (The Mask) and the above mentioned "Terorizam protiv dosade".
Update on 24.01.2008.: If you're interested in 2 Minuta Mržnje, go to Kktz's Corpus Delicti blog, he recently put up their 2nd demo, but as a 7" EP called "Došao je kraj" which was released by No Time To Be Wasted Records from Beograd (Belgrade) in Serbia. The quality of that recoding is much better than of the one I've put up here.
Update on 19.03.2009.: I have spoken too soon when I said that 2 Minuta Mržnje were now an inactive band. In 2008 they released an album called "Moderna Omladina" for SKC Novi Sad.

Since I've put up some albums from Chumbawamba (and almost all of them from their "sell-out" phaze) I thought it would be fair to also put up something that comments on Chumbas excursion into the mainstream. So here it is, the Anti-Chumba EP. Best track on it, for me, is by The Bus Station Loonies. Didn't scan the covers - sorry!

Antifrik

I remember Antifrik from the first half of the 90's when they were one of the rare bands in Zagreb that played punk and could be seen live cos during the war there were not many places to hold gigs (neither in Zagreb or even less or none in cities near/on the frontline) so you could see new bands only in some dump of a club (I'm thinking of Club 88 especially). I used to hang out with them a lot during the 90's and I still occasionaly get together with Mario K. (Frik himself!). Before "Ludo i nezaboravno" CD they released one tape called "Industrijska Zona Blues" (Industrial Zone Blues) which consisted of their demo songs on A side and on B side was their live performance from KSET club back in 1996 when they were an opening band for Peter And The Test Tube Babies. "Ludo i nezaboravno" (Crazy & Unforgettable) CD is a live release recorded on 26.12.2002. in Močvara club in Zagreb. "Nemam vremena + Manijak" (I Got No Time + Maniac) are never released studio tracks that were intended to be on their 7" single but the band called it quits before it came out. Simply, this is a piece of Zagreb's punk history.

Thatcher On Acid, Blaggers ITA, Blyth Power

There is at least one common link between this three CDs. They were all borrowed to me by Andrej Č. (Ljubljana-Zalog hero) while I was staying for couple of days at his place. I first heard Thatcher On Acid on their split LP with Wat Tyler (I think it was called "Garlic") and got interested in them. They were playing during the late 80's and beginning of the 90's. I don't know much about Thatcher On Acid, but there is a very short article on Wikipedia and a MySpace fan page that I've dug up. Ben from T.O.A. also played in Schwartzeneggar (with Steve Ignorant from Crass on vocals) and lots of other bands. Blaggers ITA were very popular in the beginning of the 90's, I first heard them on Words Of Warning's "Mind Pollution Vol. 1" compilation LP. They had a very strong anti-fascist stance which I liked a lot. They signed to EMI in 1994, released the "Bad Karma" CD I've put up here and later were dropped by EMI. I thought they were not active any more but I recently found their MySpace page, and there is also a Wikipedia article on Blaggers ITA. Blyth Power is a quite interesting band from the UK. They are still active so check them at their Blyth Power official site and at Wikipedia.

Oi! Oi! Music

I've been a little busy over the holidays but I've managed to organize this next few uploads for you. Blitz and The Oppressed are well known Oi! punk bands from the 80's. Blitz are best known for their "All Out Attack" EP and "Voice Of A Generation" LP. This is their "Complete Singles Collection" with all their hits and a few not so good songs from their latter phaze when they sounded like some new wave band. Their original songwritter/guitarist Nidge Miller unfortunately died on 07.02.2007. but I hope they will manage to go on.
